Maggie & Aaron’s wedding was such a good reminder for us that beautiful, meaningful images can be made any time, anywhere (even when it rains allllll damn day and there’s limited window light at the venue)! Instead of being bummed out by unwanted weather, Portugal and I are continually aiming to cultivate a habit of treating rainy forecast wedding days as opportunities to get creative for our couples. It’s become sort of a fun challenge for us to embrace rainy, cozy vibes and capture monumental moments for our couples in new, artistsic ways. On this day in particular, even though our outdoor photo plans didn’t go as expected, Maggie & Aaron’s photo gallery turned out to be one of my FAVORITES from the entire year. It’s amazing what magic unfolds by leaning into circumstances instead of resisting ✨️⁠

Having Maggie & Aaron’s trust (as well as their parents’ trust & encouragement – seriously, the best people) to make photography one less thing they needed to worry about on their wedding day truly fueled us to make the best of a rainy day. We were able to take our time and move slowly, allowing them to really soak in every milestone on their wedding day – including their precious first look, their portraits in the rain (which let up for about 10 seconds, just long enough to get a quick shot of the entire wedding party together – I call it a win!). Aaron’s dad conducted the ceremony in a literal WINE CAVE (so cool) which segued immediately into a round of champagne toasts in the round (love that they did this immediately after the ceremony – felt so special), and at the reception, Maggie dedicated her bouquet to her mom in lieu of tossing it. So many heartfelt, intentionally thought-out moments made this day as special as it was (and we have to shoutout their incredible planning/coordinating/floral team, Poppy + Vine – these girls were ON IT and took all the stress out of the day), and we are SO grateful that we got to be part of it all.
