LOUISVILLE ENGAGEMENT | LAUREN AND ISAAC

May 15, 2021

“Is it okay if put on some music?” Lauren thumbed through their record collection and pulled out an album. “This is actually the album our first dance song is on.” The record scratched, then the music started. And suddenly, Lauren & Isaac’s home, full of photographs and travel mementos, came to life as the music drifted throughout. That’s when we realized we were witnessing their love in it’s purest form — barefoot in their home, slow-dancing in their kitchen to their favorite folk album. We might as well have been flies on the wall (which we loved), and we were so grateful for Lauren & Isaac’s trust to document them in such a raw and honest way.

We say it all the time… Meaningful photos can be made ANYWHERE. It’s the people in front of the camera (and behind the camera) that make any setting a work of art. That’s why we got really excited when Lauren & Isaac told us they wanted to do their session in their home and around their neighborhood (including the spot where Isaac proposed on the sidewalk). Meaningful spaces that represent what this season of life looks like for them.

We hope you enjoy our favorite mix of film and digital images from this cloudy Louisville afternoon at home with Lauren & Isaac (and Essie pup).

about us

we're shelley AND portugal

Before we were wedding photographers, we were just two kids in love. We met on Instagram and fell in love over FaceTime. A shared interest in roadkill portraiture is what brought us together (it’s a funny story), but what ultimately compelled us to take a chance on long-distance is the fact that we weren’t looking for surface-level. We craved a shared life full of connection, vulnerability, and the kind of love that changes you. Now we bring that same energy to your wedding day to capture the real story, not a performance.
