In loving memory of Dominick Romeo

I have always looked up to my older cousin Brooke who lived down the street from us growing up. Every time we’d stop by to visit, I would literally gawk at her and her sister Kristina’s Parisian themed bedrooms. As far as I was concerned, they were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen level of fashion goals.

Fast forward and not much has changed! Kristina and Brooke are as chic as ever, and even more kind (truly the sweetest people). I got to photography Kristina’s wedding several years ago (before I met Portugal), and this year, Brooke asked us to shoot her wedding! And anyone who knows Brooke knows that her wedding Pinterest board is a TREASURE trove of boho wedding inspiration. Having followed the board for several years myself, I knew that her and Dom’s wedding was going to be beautiful — but I never anticipated how truly special it would be. We always say this, but it’s true: what makes a wedding amazing is the people who are part of it. This rang true x10 with Brooke & Dom’s wedding weekend, where every beautiful detail was executed with intention, and where everyone present was overjoyed to be part of it.

Stony Run Farm has been in Dom’s family for generations and holds a very special place in their hearts. Brooke + Dom fell in love got engaged there, which made it the obvious choice for their wedding venue. After the rehearsal dinner, Brooke walked us through the property which overlooks the misty mountains of western Virginia. And on the wedding day, the girls started the morning with yoga before getting ready in an old general store. And even though Brooke & Dom call northern Kentucky home, they made sure to incorporate local Virginia vendors into their destination wedding weekend.

I think this was the wedding that truly sparked the excitement in our hearts for full weekend-long celebrations. Why party for just one day when you can make it a two or three day affair?!
