Ouray Colorado Wedding | Documentary Photographers
In Taylor’s inquiry email, she described her & Chris’s plans of getting married in her dad’s backyard in Kentucky. We told her we were so down for that, but then they dropped a bomb on us…
“So, we’ve decided to forego the traditional wedding concept and just get married in our favorite place in the world. You guys down to come to Ouray, Colorado with us?”
Well… I’m paraphrasing, but it was something like that. 😉 We of course said HECK YES.
Ouray is so special to them. In Chris’s words: “We wanted to get married in a place that felt spiritual and pure to us. There is no place more perfect for that than the mountains. Also we wanted to spend quality time with the people we love the most. To get a few great days with everyone rather than just a few great hours.” We can definitely dig that.
Of course a backyard wedding in home sweet Kentucky would have been amazing. But being able to celebrate in a place that held SO much meaning to the both of them, surrounded by their family and friends…unbeatable! Southwestern Colorado is the most breath-taking backdrop (and so many other adjectives that somehow don’t seem adequate to describing the majesty of it all.)
But truth be told, that’s not what made their weekend special.
Taylor, Chris, their family, and their friends made it what it was. These two have to be among the most genuine, caring, loving people we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. People like them attract goodness in their lives. Their day embodied that SO well… maybe you’ll be able to sense it when looking at the photos.
Our favorite parts of the day:
- Coming out to Colorado a few days early to hike and spend time with Taylor, Chris, and all their closest friends.
- Off-roading in open-air Jeeps up to the ceremony site.
- Spending a whole 2-3 hours with Taylor & Chris right after they said “I do” to take pictures in the mountains.
