THE ARLING ENGAGEMENT | MARISA AND LUC

March 30, 2026

I (Shelley) have known Marisa almost my entire life — we grew up going to school & doing Girl Scouts together, and I remember us both being kindred spirits as shy, quiet, artsy girls. I’m thrilled we’ve been able to stay in touch over the years, because she is truly such a light of a person. We both have been able to make careers out of our artistic abilities, and she is still such a kindred spirit to me all these years later!

I remember when she started dating Luc, my initial thought was that I hoped he was good enough for her 😉 After getting to meet him, it was sooo clear that these two are so aligned, and such a precious match for each other. I basically knew it was a match made in heaven when Marisa told me that Luc was a professional musician, because she is a true music lover (we are both Gregory Alan Isakov girlies for lifeee hehe)

We were beyond honored when they asked if we were available to document their wedding day, because Marisa literally has known me since before I even started doing photography! She has been a constant presence of support throughout my photography career, and we are so excited to get to document her & Luc’s story now that it’s their turn!

We did their engagement photos at their wedding venue, The Arling, out in Franklin, KY (which is truly one of our FAVORITE venues- Lydia is an angel and works tirelessly to make it such a special space). It was a gorgeous spring day, and we lucked out with perfect golden hour light and the beginning buds of green starting to bloom all around.

Enjoy some of our faves from this sweet spring day!! See more Kentucky engagement sessions here

about us

we're shelley AND portugal

Before we were wedding photographers, we were just two kids in love. We met on Instagram and fell in love over FaceTime. A shared interest in roadkill portraiture is what brought us together (it’s a funny story), but what ultimately compelled us to take a chance on long-distance is the fact that we weren’t looking for surface-level. We craved a shared life full of connection, vulnerability, and the kind of love that changes you. Now we bring that same energy to your wedding day to capture the real story, not a performance.
